When it comes to planning your wedding there are obviously many important choices to make and details to consider. After you’ve got the big decisions out of the way- such as wedding size, venue, theme, etc., the detailed decisions start to consume your thoughts. We’re talking about the things such as band vs. DJ… veil vs. no veil…cake vs. cupcakes… etc. These thoughts run through every bride-to-be’s mind at one point or another. Thinking about all the little, nitpicky decisions that go into planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but us Bellagala Minneapolis Wedding Planners are here to help.
One of the most important elements of your wedding reception is well, you and your groom (duh), but right after that the FOOD! How you go about serving that food is a choice that’s completely up to you. Plate dinners and buffet style dinners are two of the most popular reception dining styles today, and as we stated earlier, we’re here to help you decide which one is best for your wedding and your guests!
Plate style dinner: This is the first of the two most popular dining styles. Plate style dinners are great for if you choose to use a catering company at your wedding. Because guests typically choose what dinner option they want from your menu of options prior to the reception, you can get an exact number and cost for everything you’ll need. There will be no worries about not having enough food to feed everyone! Plate style dinners give an elegant touch to your wedding, but they can be pricy. However, if you have room in your budget and want to make your guests feel like they’re at a real live restaurant then this dining style could be right for you.
Buffet Style Dinner: The second of the two popular dinner styles if buffet style. Buffet style dinners generally tend to be less expensive, so if you’re looking to cut costs in this area, this could be right for you! One of the great things about buffet style is that each of your guests can each personalize his or her own plate. There are typically more options for them to choose from, and guests can combine many different options! Buffet style also is typically less hassle, because you remove the hustle and bustle of servers delivering each individual plate. Something we have been seeing a lot lately is dessert buffets. Guests have the option to choose between many different yummy sweets, so everyone can find something they love!
Whichever style you choose, just remember that the main reason guests are there is to celebrate you and you’re new hubby… the food is just a HUGE plus. If you’re torn between the two, have one of our wedding planners help you make the final decision.
Bon Appetite newlyweds!
